It is a method of changing the internal structure of metals and alloys, and changing the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of metals and alloys by cooling solid metals through a fixed heating temperature, a fixed time of heat preservation and a fixed speed.

Similarly, vacuum heat treatment is a method in which metals and alloys are placed in vacuum heat treatment equipment, and the internal structure of metals and alloys is changed through heating, heat preservation and cooling, and the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of metals and alloys are changed.

Only the heating method and the cooling medium are different.

Classification of vacuum heat treatment process

Basically, it can be divided into the following categories: 1. Vacuum quenching, 2. Vacuum tempering, 3. Vacuum annealing, 4. Vacuum carburizing, 5. Vacuum nitriding, 6. Vacuum metalizing, etc.

Our daily mold processing is more commonly used vacuum quenching.

Advantages and disadvantages of vacuum heat treatment

Advantages of vacuum heat treatment:

1 No oxidation on the surface of the processed mold.

2 Vacuum degassing.

3 Degreasing effect.

4 Treat the workpiece without hydrogen embrittlement.

5 The deformation of the quenched workpiece is small.

6 Good stability and repeatability of vacuum heat treatment process.

7 Energy saving and low carbon.

Disadvantages:

1 Some alloying elements evaporate greatly in vacuum.

2 Large equipment investment.

3 The production cycle is long, and the vacuum holding time is generally 6 times that of a salt bath furnace and 2 times that of an air furnace.
